1. What is bath salt?
Bath salt is a water-soluble, powdered or granulated form of salt/minerals infused with color & fragrances to enhance your bathing experience.
2. What are the benefits of using bath salts?
Bath salts enhance your bathing experience, making it more enjoyable. They add color and fragrance to your bath water and help you to relax. They're great for aromatherapy, and help with muscle tension and inflammation, as well!
3. How often should I use bath salts in my bath?
You can use bath salts pretty much as often as you like, but 3 times per week seems to be the sweet spot for most people.
4. How do I properly use bath salts in my bath routine?
The quick-and-easy way to use bath salts in your bath routine is something like this:
- Add about a cup of bath salt to the running bath water.
- Stir it with your hands to dissolve all the grains.
- Soak in the tub for 20 minutes or so. We joking call this "marinating."
- Rinse.
5. How much bath salt should I use per bath?
About a cup of bath salts usually does the trick. You can adjust this amount up or down to suit your needs.
6. Are your bath salts safe for sensitive skin?
Yes, our bath salts are safe for most sensitive skin as long as you're not sensitive to any of the particular ingredients.
7. Can I customize the scent of my bath salts?
When you're in-store, you can mix any blend of our stock bath salts you like at our salt bar. Online, we sell it only in 2-lb bags of one scent. We do not offer custom scents at this time.
8. What is the shelf life of your bath salts?
Bath salt doesn't really go bad, but the color and scent will fade over time. We recommend storing them tightly sealed and using them within a year or so.
9. Are your bath salts suitable for all skin types?
Yes, our bath salts are suitable for pretty much all skin types. Just avoid using it on wounds, or on broken or severely irritated skin. It will burn very unpleasantly.
10. What ingredients do you use in your bath salts?
Our bath salts are hand-made in small batches with:
- Natural Sea Salt
- Blends of Natural Fragrances and Essential Oils
- Natural Colors.
11. Are your bath salts vegan and cruelty-free?
With the exception of the Oatmeal, Milk, & Honey variety, our bath salts are vegan. With regard to the cruelty-free aspect of the question, we have a strict "no animal testing" policy here at A Place on Earth. We test on human volunteers (usually family & friends) instead. There's a whole blog post about it here.
12. Do your bath salts contain any allergens?
As with all of our other products, the answer is, "That depends entirely on what you're allergic to" since anything can be an allergen, strictly speaking. They don't have any of the common ones, such as tree nut oils. However, there is still a possibility of a reaction if you're allergic to some other ingredient, such as a component of the fragrance blend.
13. Do your bath salts contain preservatives?
No, we don't add any preservatives to our bath salts because salt is pretty good at self-preserving.
14. Do you offer bath salts with additional moisturizing properties?
No, at the moment we do not offer any bath salt products with additional moisturizing properties. All of our salts are the same recipe other than the scent and color.
15. Can I use bath salts if I have skin conditions like eczema?
You can, but we recommend not using it during periods when your skin is acutely irritated or broken, as the salt will burn unpleasantly and could exacerbate the existing irritation/inflammation issue.
16. Can bath salts be used in whirlpool or Jacuzzi tubs?
Unfortunately, most manufacturers of whirlpool tubs and jacuzzi-style hot tubs advise against the use of bath salts in them because they can corrode the pump motors and other components. If you're unsure, please consult the owner's manual or manufacturer's website for your particular tub.
17. Do your bath salts dissolve completely in water?
Yes, our bath salts do completely dissolve in hot water! That's part of the reason we use a very fine-grained salt.
18. Are your bath salts safe for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
While there is nothing inherently toxic in our bath salt formulation, pregnancy and breastfeeding are a serious period of your life and there are other medical considerations involved. As we are not medical professionals, we are ill-qualified to directly or confidently answer this question. Out of an abundance of caution, we urge you to check with your OB/GYN prior to use.
19. Can bath salts be used in a hot or cold bath?
Bath salts can be used in either hot or cold water, but they'll dissolve much better in hot water.
20. Do your bath salts contain natural or synthetic fragrances?
They're natural, but they're not necessarily essential oils. The fragrance suppliers we order from are capable of making a vast selection of blends using diverse naturally-sourced/derived ingredients.
21. Can bath salts help with muscle soreness and relaxation?
Yes, bath salts can definitely help with muscle soreness and relaxation! To give it a boost, add a handful or two of epsom salt to the tub, too.
22. Can bath salts be used for foot soaks as well?
Yes, bath salts certainly can be used in foot soaks! To give the salts a boost in relieving soreness and/or edema, add a handful of epsom salt to the soak, too.
23. Are your bath salts tested on animals?
Our products are absolutely not animal-tested! We test on human volunteers — usually family & friends — rather than on animals. Even our dog shampoo was tested on a dozen or more humans before ever coming into contact with a dog. There's a whole blog post about this here.
24. Can bath salts be combined with other bath products like oils or bubble baths?
Yes, bath salts can be used in combination with other products! Salted water may cause the bubble bath to produce less bubbles, but they do work together.
25. Do you offer gift packaging options for your bath salts?
Sorry, at the moment we do not offer gift packaging for bath salts.
26. Am I going to turn into a weird zombie and eat people's faces?
No, our bath salts will not make you "turn into a weird zombie and eat people's faces". Bath salts the bathing product and "bath salts" the recreational drug (a form of synthetic cathinone stimulant) are not the same thing.
