1. What is natural deodorant?
Natural deodorants are products designed to replace commercial antiperspirant deodorants. These natural alternatives are made with all-natural ingredients and don't contain the aluminum and other problematic ingredients commonly found in their mainstream counterparts.
Back to Top2. What are the benefits of using natural deodorant over conventional deodorants?
The primary benefit is avoiding all the weird chemical additives used in conventional antiperspirants and deodorants. Secondary to that, you'll also smell nice.
But seriously, our formula:
- Contains no aluminum
- Is phthalate-free
- Is paraben-free
- Is dye-free
- Absorbs and neutralizes body odors
- Contains no artificial fragrances
- Contains only six simple ingredients, plus an essential oil for fragrance!
3. How effective are natural deodorants in controlling body odor?
For most people, these natural deodorants are quite effective. Some people who have extreme body odor issues may not have adequate protection with this product.
Back to Top4. Are your natural deodorants suitable for all skin types?
Yes, our natural deodorants are suitable for all skin types.
Back to Top5. What ingredients are used in your natural deodorant formulations?
Our natural deodorants are made with:
- Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter
- Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil
- Ricinus Communis (Castor) Bean Oil
- Beeswax
- Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda)
- Maranta Arundinacea (Arrowroot) Powder
- Essential Oils (Sandalwood, Lemongrass, Tea Tree, or French Lavender)
6. Do your natural deodorants contain any potential irritants or allergens?
We typically avoid using any of the major offenders when it comes to allergens and irritants, but you could still have a problem if whatever you're allergic or sensitive to is one of our ingredients.
Back to Top7. Are your natural deodorants vegan and cruelty-free?
Our natural deodorants are nearly vegan, but not quite. They contain beeswax. That is, however, the only animal-derived product they contain. They have not been tested on animals, and are therefore considered cruelty-free.
Back to Top8. Can natural deodorants be used on sensitive skin?
Yes, our natural deodorants are generally safe for sensitive skin so long as whatever you're sensitive to isn't one of our ingredients.
Back to Top9. How do I apply natural deodorant for best results?
Apply liberally to your underarms before conquering the day.
Back to Top10. Do your natural deodorants contain baking soda, and are there alternatives available?
Our recipe does include baking soda, and we do not make a baking soda-free alternative.
Back to Top11. Can I use natural deodorant after shaving?
Yes, you can... unless you have a horrible reaction of some sort, in which case you should not do that.
Back to Top12. What scents are available in your natural deodorant collection?
Our natural deodorants come in the following scents:
- Essential Tea Tree
- French Lavender
- Lemongrass
- Sandalwood
13. Do your natural deodorants contain natural or synthetic fragrances?
The scents in our natural deodorants are entirely from natural essential oils.
Back to Top14. How long does the protection of your natural deodorants last?
Barring any excessive sweating situations, swimming, etc., our natural deodorants last about 8-10 hours before needing to be re-applied. If you do go swimming, work up a huge sweat in the gym, etc., you will probably need to re-apply the product.
Back to Top15. Do your natural deodorants stain clothing?
No staining has been observed so far.
Back to Top16. Can I use natural deodorant during intense physical activities or workouts?
You can, but you may need to re-apply after excessive sweating (or swimming).
Back to Top17. How should I store my natural deodorant to maintain its quality?
Protect it from sunlight and extremes of hot or cold. Other than that, it requires no additional special care.
Back to Top18. Are your natural deodorants suitable for children or teenagers?
Young (pre-teen) kids don't typically need deodorant, and it hasn't been tested on them. Teenagers would be fine using our natural deodorant products, but they may need more frequent re-application to keep up with the funky stink bouquet of teenage boys.
Back to Top19. Do you offer unscented or fragrance-free natural deodorant options?
No, at the moment we do not make such a product.
Back to Top20. Can natural deodorants help with conditions like excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis?
Since our natural deodorants are not antiperspirant in their function, they will not do anything to stop or reduce excessive sweating/hyperhidrosis. They will, however, help to control any resulting odors.
Back to Top21. What makes your natural deodorants eco-friendly or sustainable?
Our deodorants are made of natural, biodegradable ingredients which will leave minimal impact on the environment. The plastic stick container is recyclable, too!
Back to Top22. Do your natural deodorants contain aluminum or other harmful chemicals?
No, our natural deodorants do not include any of the harmful stuff found in conventional deodorants. They contain only:
- Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter
- Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil
- Ricinus Communis (Castor) Bean Oil
- Beeswax
- Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda)
- Maranta Arundinacea (Arrowroot) Powder
- Essential Oils (Sandalwood, Lemongrass, Tea Tree, or French Lavender)
23. Can I travel with your natural deodorants?
Yes, you should be able to travel with our deodorants without issue.
Back to Top24. How do I transition from conventional to natural deodorant?
The transition to natural deodorants is relatively straightforward, and mostly just involves cleaning and prepping your underarms. The recommended steps are:
- Discontinue your conventional deodorant.
- Work up a sweat for an hour or two. Don't be afraid to sweat and stink, you're trying to flush out the aluminum and other stuff from your conventional product that's currently clogging your pores.
- Take a shower and thoroughly wash your underarms with a good quality natural soap.
- Exfoliate your underarms. Our sugar scrubs are great for this.
- Start using your natural deodorant.
- Wear light clothing, and expect to sweat. When you first switch, you're probably going to have an adjustment period during which your sweating will temporarily increase, along with a corresponding short-term increase in odor-causing bacteria.
- Use apple cider vinegar diluted 50/50 with water to gently wipe down your underarms whenever you feel smelly, then dab them dry and re-apply your natural deodorant. This will remove the offending bacteria and help maintain your skin's slightly acid PH balance.
The transition period of increased sweating and odors that need tending to will last a week or so for most people before tapering off.
Back to Top25. Are your natural deodorants tested on animals?
No, we do not test any of our products on animals. We test on human volunteers, instead! There's a blog post all about this here
Back to Top26. What is the recommended frequency of use for your natural deodorants?
Apply it every single day. Re-apply if necessary throughout the day, especially after swimming, working out, or any other excessive sweating/wetness.
