Every Day is Earth Day at A Place on Earth
Posted by Staff Writer on 18th Apr 2025
At A Place on Earth, we believe that showing love and kindness shouldn’t stop at people — it should extend to the planet, too. Earth Day is a beautiful reminder that our daily choices matter, and for us, it’s more than a once-a-year event. Every product we make and every business decision we take is rooted in a commitment to reduce our footprint and uplift sustainability in ways that feel real, not performative.
What Sustainability Means to Us
We’re a small family-run business making bath and body products that are vegan, cruelty-free (tested on our friends and family, never animals), and thoughtfully made. We don’t claim to be perfect, but we always aim to be better — for our customers, our community, and our environment.
How We Reduce Environmental Impact
Low-Plastic Packaging
We actively minimize plastic in our packaging. From using glass jars and recyclable materials to avoiding unnecessary wrapping, we’re always exploring new ways to cut waste without sacrificing quality.
Ethical Ingredient Sourcing
We carefully choose suppliers who align with our values. While we’re not officially certified organic or fair trade, we do what we can to reduce our footprint and mitigate harms to people, animals, and the environment. We ask hard questions and choose partners we trust.
Water-Friendly Formulas
Our sugar scrubs are made with a soapy base that lathers and rinses clean — unlike oil-based scrubs that can leave residue behind. That means less greasy buildup (for you and your pipes) and cleaner, simpler rinses requiring less water in the long run.
Waste-Reducing Practices
Because we manufacture our own products, we control how much we make and how we make it. That means conscientious consumption of materials and ingredients, minimal overproduction, less waste, and more love poured into every batch. We also re-use packing materials to reduce and/or delay waste ending up in landfills.
Products with Purpose
Every scrub, soap, and candle is designed not just to be fun and indulgent, but to tread lightly on the Earth. We’re proud to offer products that are as kind to the planet as they are to your skin. Our greatest environmentally-friendly product is our collection of Naked Shampoo Bars — every one of those bars sold takes the equivalent of three plastic shampoo bottles out of the waste stream, reducing landfill waste and saving our oceans! They're also great for the gym or traveling — and the TSA doesn't count them as liquid!

How You Can Help
Sustainability is a journey we take together. Here are a few ways you can make an impact:
-
Reuse or repurpose your jars. Scrub jars are refillable, so take advantage of that and get those refill discounts! The body butter jars aren’t refillable, but they’re quality glass containers that can be cleaned easily and repurposed to store any number of things.
-
Recycle packaging mindfully. Reuse the cardboard if you can, and when you’re done with it, make sure it gets into a recycling bin. The packing peanuts we use are made primarily from vegetable starches and are biodegradable — feel free to compost them or dissolve them in water and flush them rather than sending them out in the trash. Or, if you happen to be in the area, drop them (and any other packing peanuts you have) off to us at our factory store for reuse!
-
Support small businesses who care about how things are made (like us). Small businesses tend to create less negative impacts on the environment than mega-corporations, plus you have the added benefit of stimulating the local real economy.
- Volunteer with or donate to environmentally-focused charities and non-profits. Get out there and clean up some trash, plant some trees, save the bees, start composting, seed-bomb vacant lots and roadsides with native species. Every little thing we do to help the Earth is a step in the right direction, no matter how big or small that step may be.
What’s Next?
We’re constantly dreaming up ways to do better. From exploring refill options to working with more local and regional suppliers, we’re always open to ideas — and we’d love to hear yours.
Love the Earth. Love Yourself.
To all of you who choose thoughtful products, support small and indie makers, and care about the world we share: thank you. Together, we can make every day feel like Earth Day.
