The Flood Saga, Day 1 — Monday, February 9, 2026
Posted by Staff Writer on 12th Feb 2026
We started our day with a phone call from our neighbors (the fabulous ladies at the Madd Potter's Studio) to tell us water was spewing from our factory doors and seeping under the walls into their unit. The water gushing out the doors had turned the parking lots into an icy mess.
By the time we got here, the airport's maintenance crew was already on the scene — having identified the source of the water and shut off our water main — but the damage was done. We spent the entire day walking around in our soggy shoes, moving things up and out of the way, and clearing out the standing water with help from the awesome maintenance crew at DRBA. We are so grateful for their help!
We were so consumed by the enormity of the problem that none of us even thought to stop and take pictures/video until halfway through the day.
Several electrical shocks, a ton of heartache (and back aches), and a small fire later, we managed to get all of the standing water out. Our carpets and drywall were soggy. Furniture, fixtures, and equipment had been ruined. Two of our computers were rendered unusable. Supplies, ingredients, and materials were destroyed or contaminated by the floodwater that permeated every square inch of the facility. The water was 2-3 inches deep throughout the building, but that was more than enough to do serious damage to the facility and its contents.
